Episode 174, College Volleyball Weekly, Men's Top-15, 2-20-23

The CVW crew discusses a handful of top matches this week that include the still unbeaten teams of No. 1 Hawaii, No. 5 Grand Canyon and No. 15 Charleston. Also on the top items of the week are EIVA powerhouse No. 3 Penn St. and deep MPSF team, No. 2 UCLA. It's a pretty good-length discussion so the guys touch briefly on top teams in the conferences and quickly pick their players of the week-- which happen to be all setters (almost). 

Also, Dan Friend of Lewis wanted to remind everyone that his matches this week will be Rae Strong Foundation matches where all proceeds benefit families managing pre-mature born babies.

Episode 171, College Volleyball Weekly: Men's Top 15-ish: Week 6 Recap, 2/13/23

Week 6 proved to be an intensley newsworthy week as the CVW Crew discuss the departure of Miles Partain from UCLA, BYU’s surge, the Matadors’ “magic,” the Warriors awakened from rest and the start of conference play for some teams around the nation. Additionally, the NCAA is down to 3 undefeated teams—No. 1 Hawaii, No. 5 GCU and No. 15 Charleston. How long will these unblemished records stand? Without a doubt these teams are playing high quality ball regardless of who their opponents may be.

Episode 167: College Volleyball Weekly, Top 15ish Week 2 Recap, 01-16-23 (On Viral Volley Media)

Theo Edwards of CSUN, Dan Friend of Lewis, Jay Hosack of George Mason and Brad Rostratter of UCSD jump on to talk about the week that was in results, top athlete performances and news related to National Championship volleyball. Key items: Penn St. and GCU are both undefeated-- WITHOUT PLAYING THEIR BIG GO TO GUYS! How are they doing it?!?! Also, @VolleyVenue on Instagram posted a graphic that stated that MPSF teams are 23-1 vs. other conferences. Could we see a resurgence of the MPSF this year? Other miscellaneous items include Lewis' new "signee" and how Theo hasn't aged since 2010!

Episode 170, Week 5 College Volleyball Weekly, Men’s Top 15-ish, 2-6-23

Week 5 proved to be a week full of upsets-- or not-- according to coaches' panel on CVW. But one thing was evident. Jay's Patriots beat Dan's Flyers for his first win! Dan, Jay, Brad and Rob talk about the "(non) upsets" and the key performers of the matches, then discuss where the teams are at. We briefly discuss the 4 remaining undefeated teams of Hawaii, Long Beach St., Grand Canyon and Charleston. Will they remained unblemished after Week 6?  As always, the guys close out the episode with top matches they'll be watching in Week 6! #NCAAMVB

In this week's episode we have a surprise guest joining the CVW crew in place of Jay Hosck: his former employer, Mark Pavlik of Penn St.! As always, we discuss the previous week's results along with some of the top peformers, but we also delve into the following topics:  

  • Long Beach St. Containing the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. Is LBS the real deal?

  • Is Camden Gianni of GCU back? If so, what difference will he make being that the 'Lopes are 6-0 and experiencing their best start in program history.

  • Only 5 undefeated teams remain in the Top 15: Hawaii, UCLA, Long Beach St., Grand Canyon, and Loyola. Still too early or is this telling of what we could see in the National Chapionship Tournament?

  • Just outside the top-15, Charleston is 7-0. What's happening in WV and what does that mean for the EIVA? We finish out the episode by picking matches to watch in Week 5!
